America’s biggest chain of cinemas doubles down on VR with two sizeable investments, as AMC Entertainment Holdings is investing more than $20 million in VR arcades and Location Based Entertainment.
AMC will be the lead investor in a $20m series B financing round, pledging $10m to Steven Spielberg’s Dreamscape Immersive and $10m to support the wider production of VR content, according to an article on Bloomberg.
The company plans to launch six VR centres in the US and the UK over the next 18 months. Dreamscape Immersive also plans to open its flagship centre in LA’s Westfield Century City Mall in Q1 next year.
